Jim Gets Justice.
Does that mean I win all my cases? Do I exclusively represent innocent people who are found not guilty at trial? Am I basically Elle Woods?
No.
“Jim Gets Justice” means I love talking about criminal law in a way that’s meaningful. It’s also a lot catchier than a website named “Jim Howland Understands Criminal Law Dot Com.”
I’ve been both a federal prosecutor and a military Defense attorney for over a decade. I’ve worked hundreds of criminal cases ranging from homicide to innocuous marijuana use – and everything in between. Like most attorneys I have some fancy awards but I am confident you could not care less about them.
I’m writing this blog because (1) I love to talk, and (2), I enjoy authentic conversations about what happens in and out of the courtrooms. Also, my wife says I “scare people away” by initiating conversations about homicide and sex crimes, and wants me to start talking about this in a “more appropriate place.” Like this.
I hope you learn something today. If you’re facing criminal charges, I hope you find encouragement and entertainment here.
